Ivo Dimchev used to be the performer parents wanted to protect their kids from, now his angelic songs are the ones they play their babies to sleep with. Known as an irreverent and provocative performance artist, the chameleon-like queer Bulgarian choreographer, performer, and activist has recently been exploring the universe of sound. Musical research is now the core of his practice, with lyrics that weave a dark poetry around the listener. His voice is equal parts carnal and sweet, capricious and elegant. With a stage presence oscillating between rock star and “prima donna,” Dimchev rips out your heart and licks it before leading you onto the club dance floor. In “HALAL,” Dimchev presents songs from his older albums as well as songs written during the pandemic—angelic in tone but dirty in content. Truly a master of performance, Dimchev’s emotional voice will move even the coldest of creatures."

Ivo Dimchev Artista dal prodigioso talento, il suo lavoro è una miscela estrema e colorata di danza, teatro,
musica, disegni, fotografia e video. Ha all’attivo due album: una raccolta di brani scritti e interpretati da lui e tratti dai suoi oltre 30 spettacoli dal vivo. Ivo Dimchev ha ricevuto numerosi premi internazionali per danza e teatro e ha presentato i suoi lavori in tutta Europa in Sud America e negli Stati Uniti. Nel 2009, dopo essersi diplomato in arti performative alla DasArts Academy di Amsterdam, si è trasferito a Bruxelles dove ha aperto lo spazio Volksroom, che presenta settimanalmente giovani artisti internazionali. Nel 2014, ha aperto MOZEI a Sofia, Bulgaria, uno spazio indipendente, incentrato sull’arte e la musica contemporanea. Dal 2013 e per 4 anni è stato artista in residenza a Kaaitheater, Bruxelles. Ha diretto masterclass presso l’Accademia Nazionale di Teatro di Budapest, il Conservatorio di Danza Reale del Belgio ad Anversa, Hochschule der Künste a Berna, Svizzera, DanceWeb a Vienna, Università di Giessen in Germania, l’Accademia d’arte di Brema e altre istituzioni.
